Hello,
I was able to get this going in less than 5 mins. The easiest installation of all open-source apps I've tried. I must say an excellent job.
1) I would like to install this at home and stream it to my friends. The music I have is 256kbps and above. What kind of bandwidth considerations should I take? Or, should I find a hosting service?
2) Can multiple people listen to a song at one time?
Please let me know.
Thanks again for all your effort.
Thanks,

Hi klraghu,
Welcome! Yea, bandwidth is a real issue is you have a residential provider. MP3-CMS is engineered to be run on an Intranet and it excels in that space. No problem at all with dozens of users all listening at the same time, if they're all on the same network. I did an implementation of the CMS for book store (which wanted the CMS to manage their extensive audio-books collection) a few months ago and we tried opening it up to internet users but they had a residential provider and the CMS was sssslow.... users had to wait for several seconds to minutes for the audiobooks to start playing (could be due to the large size of audiobooks). I'm sure this could have been resolved if the customer upgraded their link but I have never tried to run it over the Internet so I really can't say for sure.

thund3rstruck,
I've set this up in my residential server. I'll PM you the link to it. It seems to be streaming well when I listen to it from my office. I have 17Mbps internet and probably that is why. Probably you'll start to snooze as soon as you play the first song as its all in Hindi.
I've had some time since yesterday to go through the site, the setup, the architecture etc and I just don't know where to begin to appreciate the work you all have put into this.
I've sent the link to my friends and they are just ecstatic looking at the features in the MP3-CMS!
Now since I have reviews from my friends, I was thinking of expanding this further.
I have a non-profit, non-advertised music website with 100s of listeners with no advertisement anywhere throughout the website. I'm streaming this via a shoutcast stream provider. So, its 100% self-funded for the joy of the mass. It also does not by far mean I'm making good money from my day job. :)
I'm using Shoutcast. This uses public streaming where many many other websites are 'leaching' my stream and making money. I want to make sure people don't take advantage of this free service.
I would like to use your CMS solution as a base to create a new site for my users, if its okay with you. Please let me know.
Thanks,

Sure, I built this for the love of music (to steal another product's tagline)! I don't need any money or recognition, I just hope everyone else who uses it gets as much enjoyment out of it as me and my family do. Its still not close to being 100% done and there are some outstanding bugs that need work but my family and I use it everyday and I can't imagine not having it now that I have added all my Album reviews, playlists, and star ratings.
Do with it whatever you please, I only ask that if change the source code that you commit those changes into our SourceForge Subversion Repository so all of us can enjoy your fixes and changes.
