We're in the final stages of testing the mp3Scanner windows service component. Once available you will no longer have to run the scanner to update the database. It watches your root path and anytime a file is added, deleted, or changed mp3scanner will automatically update the database appropriately.
The component will be available for download in the next few weeks

I've just been setting up a new installation and noticed that there seems to be a problem with handling the conversion of datetime strings to database datetime if the culture of the database is set up to use european datetime format rather than US format. Merely suggesting that this be reviewed in the new version you are releasing. :)
