Hi,

I have just been mocking around for the past couple of days trying to figure out why the scanner wouldn't run. I had a look at the logs and it only show some logs from march 2008 .... which is obviously not the event I was expecting to see logged there.

I really need some fresh look on this issue which is seriously starting to annoy me, for the least.

Regards,

Tam

PS: should I add that I have follow the installation almost word for word and the permission are all set for the NETWORK SERVICE to the requirement?

Just a silly question: SQLite can only support one and only one connection at the same time?

I don't know whether I am formulating this question the right way, as I am just totally new using SQLite in the first place, but it seems to me that the first scan of the music library is preventing mp3cms to access the database while scanning.

SQLite question: Yes, SQLite doesn't support concurrency so Symon Rottem (the NHibernate Engineer) built out a data factory which allows the SQLite to behave like it supports concurrency. On this note, to my knowledge no large user load has ever been placed on the system but we do routinely serve 10-20 concurrent users. My family and I also use the system at home everyday and haven't had issues with concurrency either.

On the IIS7 note. There has been a lot of traffic regarding the CMS in IIS7. I'm still using and developing against IIS6 so I'm afraid I don't have any great insight. Take a look at Fahrain's post. He was able to get the CMS running correctly in Server 2008 w/IIS7 by switching IIS to run in "Classic Mode"

WOW, that is a fast answer. Thanks. :)

On the topic of finding a solution for 2008/IIS7, I had a good read at that discussion you had with Fahrain, but I am afraid I did understand only half of it. :p

When you are saying that he switched to classic mode, that is with changes to the *.config files, right?

I'll have another go later this week.

Btw, have you heard about MusicIP? It is a company that is offering a music player with a system of DB lookup based on individual track analysis. I though it might be interesting to try and use that for the track identification in case the user doesn't care much for sorting it before putting it in the store rep.

Again, I haven't ever used Server 2008/IIS 7 but the change to "Classic Mode" should be a setting in IIS. Here's a quote I found:

"in case you’re trying to do a sanity check, there is a Classic Mode that will enable your ASP.NET application to function exactly like it does in IIS6. In IIS7, the version of ASP.NET that your Web application uses is specified in the application pool to which it is mapped. This change in philosophy prevents the problems that occur today when multiple Web sites running on different versions of the .NET Framework are mapped to the same application pool (crashing whichever one attempts to load second). There are only a few situations where you’d want to revert to Classic Mode, though. The way that impersonation is handled in Integrated Mode is slightly different, so that might be a reason you’d want to stick with the old model."

Switch IIS7 To Classic Mode (IIS6)

Haven't heard of MusicIP but I'll go check that out!

Thanks, I wasn't too sure about the web.config file tbh. But I gave it a try and it work flawlessly right now. I've tested it on my local machine instead of my server (Vista business) and the Classic mode did it. I was just a bit confused having just build the server. Er ... And I must add that I was trying to share the root of a folder (file store for the music) that seemed to be not so much of vista's taste.
